This One Exercise Makes Entrepreneurial Life All Worthwhile

Post by Smoothsale in Entrepreneurship

Enjoy the moment. Too often we are so caught up in making money to pay the bills that we do not reflect on our accomplishments. Instead, we focus on our shortcomings. This, in turn, puts us into a feeling of failure and a downward spiral of self-inflicted negative thinking.

In particular, it has become clear that many large organizations will focus on an employee lack of a particular skill set leading to demoralization of that person. The employee will become more lackluster each succeeding day. The output and successes decrease over time and eventually the employee is either let go or finally realizes the need to work elsewhere.

Entrepreneurs are lucky they are free to work as they please. However, the days are very long because the entire business depends upon the entrepreneur. The early years are the most difficult when the entrepreneur does not know if their hard work will translate into success down the road. So if you are in your early years, how can you celebrate?

The first step to celebration is to look back to where you were six months and a year ago to realize how far you have come. Honestly look at what you have achieved in terms of your current business plan, the pieces that require extra attention, and what your next targeted platform will be. When you realize how much you have already accomplished, tell yourself, you have done a very good job.

Make it a habit every six months to hold a Business Review with yourself. Assess new steps for future goals and celebrate those you recently accomplished.

Always work toward your distant business model and your 12 month goal. Each six months revise and add to your 12 month goal. It will help you remain focused, achieve more quickly and bring far more celebrations for the work you do.

Another form of celebration is to recognize important days in your life such as birthdays, anniversaries and vacations. You need to occasionally refresh your mind and body by calling for a time-out from work. A relaxed mind will help you gain clarity. You will re-energize and regain resolve to pursue your work upon your return.

To date, I am unaware of male owned businesses urging other men to appreciate their accomplishments. While I once thought men had it made in corporate America, I have become increasingly aware that they too need encouragement and celebration of their lives. This is one area where the women are definitely ahead in the business arena. Numerous organizations dedicated to helping women succeed and celebrate their lives have taken hold and enjoy increasing membership.

Many of us spend so much of our lives helping and nurturing others, we need to occasionally do the same for ourselves. Make the time for yourself on a regular basis to reflect on who you are, what you believe, what your greatness is, and allow yourself to shine for the moment. And then move forward in your spotlight.

I urge each of my readers to set one more goal. For your next milestone achieved, treat yourself to a trip to the spa, a special birthday gift, or a vacation as appropriate with your time and budget. You will be glad you did!

My Story:
For my generation, my husband and I were elderly parents. So we decided to have children 15 months apart. I spent 15 years at home as a devoted wife and mother. I did my best to make the most of each day with the children so they would grow to become independent and contributing members of society.

My special birthday celebration took place last month and it became a truly special event. My son and daughter readily agreed to meet us in New York. Recognizing they are both active adults, they could easily have said, No, or I do not have the time.

The four days were a team event with each of us taking turns to decide what to do. My children surprised me with a lovely gift. But the most precious gift came when our son, playing the advocate, began a conversation by asking why we decided to have the two of them so close together.

Our daughter immediately blurted out, Mom, you can tell me I was an accident or adopted. I do not care. I just love you. Our son readily agreed. Their sentiments were the highlight of my birthday celebration. The gift is a reminder of our wonderful time together.

Whatever you choose to do in life, remember your original intentions and follow through with your heart. You will have much to celebrate.

Self-Defense With A Stun Gun

Post by Slane475 in Gadgets and Gizmos

There are a wide variety of non-lethal self-defense weapons available today. If you’re looking for afford ability, portability and reliability, the standard stun gun is a great choice. Many different types can be ordered online.

Not to be confused with its cousin, the taser, the stun gun is its own animal. A stun gun works by disrupting the body’s electrical system. Using household batteries, stun guns supply electricity to a system of transformers which boost the voltage to high levels while reducing the dangerous amperage. The electricity heads to the oscillator, which creates a specific pulse pattern which, in turn, charges the capacitor that supplies the electrodes with a charge.

In layman’s terms, that means that a simple nine-volt battery becomes a 500,000 volt zap out the other end. The electrodes, which are basically two pieces of metal, have a gap between them. This causes the circuit to be open, meaning that the electricity is waiting to travel completely through them. In order for the charge to go through, the circuit must be closed. This is where the assailant comes in; his body creates a closed circuit, allowing the charge to pass into his body, rendering him immobile.

The electrical charge from a stun gun confuses the body’s nervous system. There is always electricity running from top to bottom in a person’s body, carrying bits of communication from the brain and back again. When a high amount of outside voltage is introduced, the body’s signals get mixed up. The muscles aren’t receiving the proper information from the brain and vice versa. Since they aren’t getting any input, they don’t know what to do. They’re confused. They freeze, and your attacker is temporarily paralyzed.

Another way that a stun gun immobilizes an attacker is by sending a pulse frequency into the body. This imitates the body’s natural signals, and for a very short length of time, causes the muscles to work extraordinarily hard. By not giving any specific information on what the muscles are supposed to do, the body tires itself out immediately. This leaves any would-be assailant completely drained of energy, allowing time for you to get away and seek help.

A stun gun also often has another pair of electrodes, an inner pair, which are designed to emit sparks and noise. These electrodes serve as a display of power, a frightening sight for any attacker. They are physically harmless, but can often prevent an assailant from coming too close.

One of the major advantages of a stun gun is its compact nature. From pen-sized devices to stun guns the size of household flashlights, there are options for everyone’s taste. Some may prefer the element of surprise while others like their stun gun to be large and in charge. Some say that the disadvantage of the stun gun is that the attacker must be within arms reach in order for it to discharge its electrical shock. Of course, if an attack were to take place in a confined area such as a stairwell, there is no other option but close proximity.

An important thing to check before purchasing a stun gun is the laws of your particular state and county. Many areas have certain restrictions on the carrying of a stun gun by a civilian. Some cities and states completely prohibit the use of stun guns by civilians or law enforcement. Others will allow possession only if the carrier is licensed in the use of firearms. Check the information available thoroughly to avoid any legal trouble.

If they are legal in your area, consider purchasing one. For those without self-defense training, a stun gun is a great tool to possess. They are inexpensive and are guaranteed to bring any attacker to their knees.

Why The Sony PSP Is Such A Popular Gaming System

Post by Teahupoo in Computer Games

The portable Play station which otherwise is known as the PSP is the new gaming system of its time. You can watch DVDs play video games and even download music to your console. Even though these toys are expensive I think the PSP is well worth the money since you can play DVDs and listen to music as well as play video games. You can even buy a few accessories that will help you and your PSP out like a plastic screen that will cover your LCD screen for you and won’t let anything scratch or hurt it. You can also buy a carrying bag to take with you so you don’t have to leave your PSP at home. There are many things that you can buy for your PSP.

Even though the PSP wasn’t released till 2004 it was still wanted really bad by many and even though didn’t make it to the states until March it still sold a lot of systems and still was one of the top systems sold that year. Its major competitor was the DS and that didn’t sell nearly as much systems as the PSP. The reason for that being is because the PSP as something new that no other company had ever came out with. It could do things that no other system could.

The PSP has its own processor and everything along with over a gig of space on each game that you can save your game to. If you don’t have enough room to keep all you’re saved files on then you need to get a memory stick so that you can save more things on your PSP. You will be able to save music and games on your PSP after you have bought the memory stick. Even though they might come a little expensive they are still worth the money and how much space you get.

The type of battery that comes with the PSP is rechargeable. It also comes with a battery charger so that you can either charge it while you are playing or you can charge it while you are not playing. You can even buy a battery charger dock so that when you are not using or playing your PSP you can just connect your PSP to the dock with the battery still attached and just start charging. There are many things that you can buy for your PSP.

You can even play with 16 of your buddies wirelessly. Isn’t that insane all you have to do is get a few of your friends and you can just connect and play together in a game. Like whichever one of your friends would be the host of the game would make the game and then invite all of whoever wanted to play.

Even though they are sold at an expensive price they are worth every penny and nickel. Anything that can download music and still play DVDs and play games is worth it. I mean you can even make notes and do work on the thing.
