Finding The Best Skin Care For Wrinkles

Posted by Peter11 in Beauty

Skin care is a subject that gets closer to your heart the older you get. As you age your interest in finding the latest new wrinkle cream increases, and you start to read more avidly about skin care for wrinkles.

However it might surprise you to know that the best skin care for wrinkle prevention isn’t finding the best new wrinkle cream on the market. The best way to prevent wrinkles has nothing to do with anti wrinkle creams.

Our skin health, and progress of our skin towards wrinkles and sagging, is more about our lifestyle and overall health. Skin health follows overall health, and it is very difficult to achieve great looking, young looking glowing skin if we are generally unhealthy. Better health translates to better looking, and healthier skin. Regardless of whether we search out the latest new wrinkle cream or not.

And of course there are other factors as well. Obviously our age is a huge factor in the look and health of our skin, and there is nothing we can do about that. A 20 year old is just more likely to have great skin than a 60 year old. That’s just a fact of life.

But whilst we cannot do anything about our age, there is lots we can do for our health and at the same time achieving the best skin care for wrinkles and wrinkle prevention. It’s really very simple. Notice I said simple, not easy.

First thing we need to do is to minimize our lifestyle factors. Lifestyle factors are a huge contributor to our overall health, and to our skin health. One of the worst things you can do to your skin, and to your body, is to smoke.

It is well recognised that smoking has an extremely negative impact on our skin. People who smoke have older looking skin when they are younger. Wrinkles develop earlier and are more pronounced. If you smoke, and you want your skin to look better, stop smoking right now. And your body will thank you for it in so many other ways other than in your skin health.

Next comes exercise. If you don’t exercise then you need to. A good exercise routine heavily impacts your overall health, and your skin health. More and more research is showing the major benefits of exercise on so many aspects of our health. You must develop a good exercise routine, not just for your skin health but for your overall health. And as I said, the two go together.

Finally comes your diet. A change in your diet can be the best skin care for wrinkles that you can do. Not only will a good diet improve your skin health and the look of your skin, but it will also impact your overall health. And at the risk of repetition, skin health follows our overall health.

Our diets rich in pizzas, burgers and processed foods is not good for our skin, and not good for our health generally. We need a diet rich in natural vitamins, minerals, anti oxidants and essential oils and you won’t find too many of these in pizzas, burgers or processed foods.

Eat less of these and eat more vegetables and fruits.

And finally, take high quality supplements to supplement those vitamins, minerals, anti oxidants and essential oils that you still aren’t getting, even through a good diet. Because it’s practically impossible to eat well enough to supply our bodies with all the vitamins, minerals, anti oxidants and essential oils that we need for optimum health and overall skin health. The best supplements, (note I said the best supplements, most aren’t very good), will provide you with a complete supply of what your body needs in the right combinations.

Follow these simple steps and you’ll be pursuing the best skin care for wrinkles there is. By all means add to this the use of great quality organic skin care products and you’ve got all bases covered. Do all this and your skin will be so much healthier, and look so much better, than it ever could using that new wrinkle cream that came out last month that promises so much, (but delivers so little).

Remember, I said it’s simple, not easy. But do this and your whole life, not just your skin, will change for the better.

Popular Types Of Contact Lenses

Posted by Anutt in Fashion

If you wear glasses and are thinking about trying contact lenses, there are many things to consider. Surely you’re aware of some of the benefits of wearing contacts, such as freedom from bulky glasses as well as better peripheral vision. You may be a bit nervous about inserting contact lenses or even about care and maintenance. Before you worry about those details, you should learn a bit about the different types of contact lens options available to you. Educating yourself about the different lenses that are currently in the marketplace will put you one step ahead. Below is an overview about some of the different lenses that your optician may prescribe for you. Arm yourself with the following information before going to your eye doctor and you’ll be in a much better position to come out with what’s best for you.

Toric Lenses

Toric lenses are designed to have the effect of a cylindrical lens, usually in combination with the effect of a spherical lens. Toric lenses are typically used by nearsighted and farsighted people who also have astigmatism. Usually, these people have been told they are not suitable for regular contact lenses, but may be able to use toric lenses. If one of your eyes has astigmatism and the other does not, you may be told to use a spherical lens in one eye and a toric lens in the other. Toric lenses are made from the same materials as regular contact lenses but have a few notable differences. Some of these differences include:

- They are not symmetrical and may contain a specific ‘top’ and ‘bottom’
- They must be designed to maintain their orientation
- They correct for both cylindrical aberration and spherical aberration
- They may be a bit more expensive and are generally intended for extended wear

Rigid Gas Permeable Lenses

Rigid gas permeable contact lenses were introduced in the late 1970’s. While rigid gas permeable lenses (or RGP’s) are more rigid or firm than soft contact lenses, they mustn’t be confused with the old style of ‘hard’ contact lenses, which are no longer used. Most rigid gas permeable lenses incorporate silicone, which is oxygen permeable. Essentially, what this means is that oxygen can physically pass through the lenses and reach your eyes. Rigid gas permeable lenses typically last longer than soft contact lenses. They may also provide better vision, durability and deposit resistance. RGP’s can be easier to clean and due to their long-lasting quality may prove to be cheaper in the long run.

Vial Lenses

Vial contact lenses are basically rigid gas permeable lens that are designed to be worn for up to a year. Vial lenses must be removed, cleaned and sterilized on a nightly basis. Vial lenses can be both soft or rigid. The main difference between vial lenses and other types of contact lenses lies in the amount of time that one pair of lenses will last. Though daily wear contact lenses and disposable lenses have grown in popularity, may people still prefer the durability of rigid gas permeable vial lenses. Vial lenses last a long time and are said to provide excellent vision correction. On the other hand, they tend to be thicker than disposable lenses and can take a while to get used to.

The Choice is Yours

Now that you know a bit more about some of the different types of available contact lenses, you’ll be better equipped to make decisions about your vision care. Make sure to consult with your doctor about your lifestyle and specific vision problems to further help you determine which lenses are best for you.

When searching online for contact lenses, be sure to do your research and find a contact lens provider that offers all the most popular types of contact lenses, including toric lenses, RGP lenses and vial lenses.

Lace Front Wigs - Improve Your Look!

Posted by LanceThorington in Fashion

Lace front wigs are hair extension wigs; which have lace in the front that can be trimmed off, so that when you put it on it blends in and looks like your natural hair. Lace front wigs look more natural and are lighter on the head. The full cap of the wig can also be made of lace. With this type of wig you can part your hair in any way that you like without the possibility that anyone will detect you are wearing a wig.

There are two kinds of lace that are basically used in this type of wig; Swiss lace is extremely fine and fragile it is undetectable. French lace is fine and undetectable, but it is also stronger than Swiss lace. The lace can be dyed to match your skin tone which adds to the natural appearance of this type of wig.

To prepare for putting the wig on, first make sure the wig is a good fit. Then trim the extra lace off of the front of the wig. Apply the adhesive strips to the back of the wig. Put your natural hair up in a stocking or pin it up well. Clean your skin, and if your skin is sensitive to the adhesives apply a skin barrier which can be bought at the same place you buy your wig in most cases. Apply two to three thin coats of the adhesive to your scalp at your hairline.

The adhesive dries clear so it is undetectable. Once you apply the adhesive to your scalp, you let it dry until it is tacky, and then apply the wig. As you apply the wig you gently pull it into place and press it down onto the adhesive for a few seconds, doing this all of the way around the scalp. Once the wig is applied you can use a wide toothed comb to get any tangles out.

One you have done this you can style your wig just as you would your normal hair. You can curl it, braid it, wear an up do, or a ponytail. That is the beauty of this kind of wig. There are many Hollywood stars that wear this kind of wig. It has easy upkeep. You can swim with it, shower with it, and be as active as you like in it. It can be worn up to three months before you need to take it off and care for it.

Your wig will need to be very well taken care of, and may require minor repairs throughout the lifetime of the wig (which if it is gently treated can be years). There are self repair kits for the most minor fixes or you may need to take the wig in to be repaired. These wigs may cost more than the average wig but they are well worth the extra cost when you look at the advantages.

You can have a natural look, that nobody can tell is not your hair, and you will not be overheated by wearing a skull cap type of wig, because the lace breathes. The wig can easily be put on by yourself, and be worn in any way you choose, just like your own hair.

What Are The Benefits Of Insect Repellent Womens Clothing?

Posted by Artgib in Clothing

Insect repellent technology converts womens clothing and gear into convenient, effective insect protection.

Insect repellent womens clothing products are proven to repel mosquitoes, ticks, ants, flies, chiggers and midges (no-see-ums).

The Insect Repellent Protective Barrier

Insect repellent womens clothing and gear is the most effective new tool in over 50 years in the battle against insects and insect-borne disease–a completely new way to protect against annoying and potentially dangerous insects. With its odorless and invisible insect protection, the only way to tell it’s there is that the bugs aren’t biting.

The built-in insect repellent provides a carefree outdoor experience, letting you focus on your adventures–not the bugs.

The Insect Repellent Advantage

EPA Registered

Insect repellent womens clothing is registered by the Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA registration process is designed to evaluate a proposed product to ensure it will not have adverse effects on humans or the environment. Insect repellent womens clothing has been evaluated at multiple levels–the chemistry, the application process and the final consumer product. The end result was the first-ever EPA registrations for insect-repellent clothing and gear.

Effective

Insect repellent womens clothing products are proven to repel numerous varieties and species of mosquitoes, ticks, ants, flies, chiggers and midges (no-see-ums). This includes insects with the potential to carry dangerous diseases such as Malaria, West Nile virus, Dengue fever and Lyme disease.

Tested and Proven

Insect repellent clothing technology is the result of years of research and field study. Numerous studies have confirmed the effectiveness of permethrin-treated womens clothing as an insect repellent. Our own testing methods follow USDA guidelines, and the results prove our unique, long-lasting properties.

Convenient

Insect repellent clothing protection is invisible, odorless and as easy as putting on your clothes. Unlike traditional repellents, insect repellent clothing products cannot be misused or over applied and do not require re-application.

Comfortable

Insect repellent womens clothing has no unpleasant smell or feel. The active ingredient, permethrin, is a man-made version of a natural insect repellent found in certain chrysanthemums. It is bonded to the fibers using a patent-pending process that transforms ordinary clothing into comfortable insect protection for the whole family.

Durable

The repellency is EPA registered to last through 70 launderings which is more than double the average life expectancy of a garment as listed by the International Fabricare Institute. This is also well beyond the life of most performance finishes commonly used in the technical-apparel industry.

Easy Care

Normal home laundering is recommended. Insect repellent clothing products can be bleached, starched, pressed, etc., without effect on the repellent quality; however, they should not be dry cleaned because that removes the active ingredient.

Tested for Effectiveness and Durability

Effectiveness of insect repellent clothing as measured using USDA standard knockdown test on Aedes aegypti mosquitoes.

Positive Impact on World Health

One of the founders’ original intentions for developing insect repellent clothing was to help protect children from insect-borne diseases. We realize the potential to greatly impact worldwide health and continue to support many global initiatives. Permethrin-treated womens clothing is now recommended by the following international agencies:

- The World Health Organization: www.who.int
- The American Academy of Family Physicians: www.familydoctor.org
- The U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services: www.hhs.gov
- Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC): www.cdc.gov/travel
- The Public Health Agency of Canada: www.phac-aspc.gc.ca

How Retinols Benefit Skin

Posted by Sharmani in Beauty

If you’re concerned about keeping skin looking young and healthy as you age, then there are a number of things that are important:
1.Apply a broad spectrum UVA and UVB blocking sunscreen every day, year round
2.Make diligent use of antioxidants like Vitamin C to fight against free radical damage generated by sun exposure and pollution
3.Exfoliate regularly with alpha hydroxy acids to remove dead skin and stimulate collagen production
4.Incorporate a retinoid into your skin care regimen.

What are Retinoids?

Retinoids are derivatives of the Vitamin A molecule. Traditionally used to treat acne, it’s widely recognized that they offer other skin benefits as well.

Retinoids are available by prescription or without. The prescription options are found in products such as Retin A, Tazorac and Avage. Extremely effective, many individuals find them too irritating and are unable to use them. If this is the case, then a non-prescription option, as found in retinol, makes a suitable alternative. While retinol must be broken down into retinoic acid in order to exert its action on skin cells, at suitable concentrations, studies have shown that users do see significant benefit to their skin.

Retinol Benefits

Retinols work by increasing the production of collagen, the skin’s supporting network. In addition, hyaluronic acid production is stimulated. Hyaluronic acid is an ingredient that helps to keep skin hydrated. Cells are encouraged to ‘talk to’ one another and behave normally, something that is often disrupted as we age. In addition, there is an increase in cell turnover (new cell production) in the skin’s dermis. The results of this optimal communication results in several benefits:

The appearance of wrinkles and fine lines diminish
Skin is tightened
Skin looks smoother and glows
Diminishes the appearance of pores and also helps to cleanse them, helping to eliminate blemishes
Skin tone is evened out
Discolorations are lightened.

Retinol is also an antioxidant, which results in its ability to fight against free radicals which lead to skin damage.

Retinols Must Be Packaged Appropriately

Retinol is sensitive to air and light which makes the way its packaged very important. This helps to keep the product working from the moment you open it until it’s all gone. Airless pumps can help to protect the integrity of the finished product.

In addition to the way retinol is packaged, it must be used in appreciable concentration. Products that don’t reveal the concentration of retinol might possibly not contain enough to have any significant benefit to skin.

How To Use Retinol

Retinol is an active skin care ingredient so if you have never used it before or if you have sensitive skin, then you should perform a patch test and wait at least a day to see if experience any reaction.

If you tolerate it well, then introduce it gradually starting with the lowest concentration until your skin tolerates it. It’s generally recommended that you apply it only once weekly for the first few weeks, increasing to every other day for a month until you can finally try using it nightly.

Retinol Side Effects

Because of the way that they work, retinols can irritate skin at the outset. This is quite normal and most skin will adjust to treatment and see benefit.

Skin may burn or sting during initial use. Redness or mild rashes may also be apparent. Flaking occurs as old, damaged skin cells are she and newer ones fill their place.

Retinol does make skin more sensitive to sunlight so it’s very important to cover up with a well formulated sunscreen every day.

Retinols should never be used during pregnancy or while nursing as they can potentially be harmful.
