Release The Inner Artist With Deco Shop Canvas Prints

Posted by Dominicdonaldson in Photography

A deco shop is a new breed of do-it-yourself art. Creating a masterpiece from digital stills can be done at the touch of a button; all you need is access to the internet, a stockpile of photos and a moment of creative flair. With the assistance of a little bit of nifty software, like the sort of thing that has been in use at Snappy Snaps and the likes for the last few years, your photos can be transformed into a canvas print or a poster. There are settings to crop, cut, paste and distort, and if you are feeling particularly arty, play with colour and contrast too.

Although the package is simple to use and aimed at the basic level of pick a picture and put it on canvass, there is potential for its use in far more arty ways. Think Warhol and multiple art works, think crazy colours and obscure angles. Get inventive with the software and create something more than a photo on fabric. Your creation may not be hung in the Tate Gallery once you’ve done, but it has the potential to be a great conversation piece at a dinner party, or a fabulous gift for a friend.

However, if you aren’t feeling quite so wild about becoming the next Picasso, it is a beautiful way to display a favourite picture. Holiday landscapes and portraits of a loved one can be released from the hard drive where they never get seen and given a new lease of life on the wall. It can also be a novel way to display favourite pictures all together on one wall. We are quite used to a photo wall of gilded frames and glass, with every momentous occasion captured for posterity.

There have been many photographic fads over the years, and just as many art fads too. They all have a place in our hearts though, and they often act as a reminder of the times. Just like the Bay City Rollers souvenir socks that are hidden in a cupboard somewhere. One such ‘fad’ was in the 1980s with the Athena poster. The aesthetic was black and white or sepia tones of either a supposedly cute or romantic scene; or more often, a down right seedy image of a semi clad man or woman. These posters depicted burly and overly handsome men holding babies, sultry women in faux forties attire waiting in train stations and the infamous tennis player with her bum cheeks showing. Classy.

Another that springs to mind is the fisheye photo being put in a bubble glass frame. All very good fun, and looks great, but only in small, amounts. Having a whole photo wall of fish eyed faces with big noses and skewered landscape shots and the novelty soon wears off. Polaroid photos on the other hand have a special place in my heart, and still do, even with the super slim multi purpose digital photo boxes that we carry at all times. Polaroids have an expectation and a randomness about them. They come ready framed, and so look great when put on a wall en mass. The way the colours degrade over time give feel that is purely stuck in the 1970s, even if it is a picture of the millennium dome.

Polaroid photos have actually made it into the realm of fine art. A guy called Araki has on numerous occasions displayed Polaroid pictures of food, flowers and half naked ladies in a massive montage of around 1000 stills. The advancing technology may well put the photographic canvas on the fine art agenda, rather than demoting it to room 101 with the pop culture posters of the 1980s.

Features Of A Digital SLR

Posted by Jonnyhitek in Photography

For people, it is almost second nature to want to document events. It is not surprising that some people will not go anywhere without a camera, since taking pictures is one of the best ways (if not the best way) to capture a moment’s feeling. It is a common sight to see most people toting a digital camera to almost every function, so that they can capture even the most mundane events.

Digital cameras have changed the way people take pictures. Gone are the days when people have to worry about bringing enough film to capture enough shots; now people concern themselves with the storage on their camera’s memory sticks.

Digital cameras have also allowed people to take almost foolproof pictures, since most models take better shots in lowlight conditions.

While digital cameras have surely provided people with much convenience, there is that fact that digital cameras can only provide little room for creativity. While there are built-in effects on most models, there are those people who want more creative control for their photographs.

Because of that constant want to create artful pictures, people have started to embrace the phenomenon behind the digital SLR.

DSLR or digital single lens reflex cameras have been gaining popularity in the recent years. People who were users of the traditional single lens reflex cameras find joy in using digital SLR cameras, because it strikes a good balance between the different essentials that photographers go for.

Compared to digital cameras or other compact cameras, digital SLR cameras provide better image quality. These cameras provide better resolution; the difference is even more noticeable in higher ISOs.

A faster autofocus is also a great feature in digital SLRs. This is a good feature, since photographers can make sure that they can capture even the unexpected events. These digital single lens reflex cameras also allow faster continuous shooting, which is essential when shooting moving subjects or sporting events.

The photographer can play up with a number of effects with digital SLR cameras.

This is because different accessories can be used with the cameras; among those are the different types of lenses. There are various lenses for different needs like telephoto lens, ultrawide angles, and perspective-control lens, among others. By switching to different lenses, a photographer can get creative with countless possibilities.

These cameras can also be used with flashes, thus allowing the photographer to take better pictures in low light conditions. With regular digital cameras, the photographer will only rely on the camera’s built in flash. While this provides acceptable results, specialized flashes for digital SLR cameras are definitely better.

An important advantage of digital SLR cameras over the traditional models is that since digital SLRs do not use film, there is a lower cost to take pictures. This means that the photographer can take as many shots as the storage allows, and he does’nt have to print out the pictures to choose which ones are usable.

The images can be seen immediately on the computer, so the photographer may opt to edit or enhance the pictures right there and then.

The New Face Of Photos

Posted by Jonnyhitek in Photography

Cameras have been around for quite awhile now. It became a very important part of our lives because of several reasons. The primary reason for wanting to own a camera is because it captures precious memories that we want to keep.

Not so long ago, people have to wait for days for them to be able to see the result of the picture that they have taken. But when the digital cameras came out that is no longer a problem. Digital cameras are just like the cameras we all grew up with but it has a modern touch. For one, you do not have to wait for the photos to be developed for you to see the result of what you took. Second is that you can also record videos with digital cameras.

That is an advantage for a lot of people since they do not have to buy a separate gadget just to be able to record their videos. Another good thing about digital cameras is that they are able to connect to the computers. People can easily store their memories safely in their own computers or laptops.

Plus if you want to share your pictures with your family and friends, you can just send it via e-mail or through photo sharing sites. Imagine never having to go through the hassle of mailing your pictures via air mail just so it can reach your friends who lives far away. Now with the digital camera they can receive it within minutes.

Now, for some people who are not contented with the way they photograph, digital cameras are also a good pick. When you’ve already stored your pictures in the computer you have the option to change or edit the way you look.

This can be done through different editing tools or programs. You can make your complexion fairer, or you can also make your wrinkles disappear.
On the other hand, even though digital cameras have a lot of advantages one of the things that it still has yet to achieve is quality.

The quality of prints that you can get with digital cameras as compared to conventional film cameras is quite lower. Although digital prints are clear, you can really see the difference when you look at film prints. Pictures taken with films are much more defined and the color is very much alive.

But in time and through the advancement of technology digital prints will most likely be more like the ones taken with film.

Digital cameras use memory card to store your photos. The capacity of the memory card is the one who can determine the number of photos that you can store. The higher the capacity of the memory card the more pictures you can store.

Taking pictures is a lot of fun and it will really keep all of your memories alive. Just make sure that before you buy digital cameras, you should do your own research just to make sure that your memories are in good hands.

Cleaning Your Digital Slr Camera

Posted by Jonnyhitek in Photography

For a number of people with SLR digital cameras, cleaning their babies may be a daunting task. You cannot blame them, one wrong move, and poof, that rather expensive piece of item may need a professional fixing that may cost an arm and leg. That is why a lot of people are willing to fork over up to $150 to have their cameras professionally cleaned to avoid any mishaps.

However, cleaning your digital SLR should not be as intimidating as people perceive of it if the right tools are used. Here are some tips in cleaning that SLR digital camera of yours.

1.Prepare your cleaning area. Make sure you do your cleaning indoors, in a place that is clean and dustless. Wear lint free clothing like spandex and of ever you are wearing long sleeves, roll up your sleeves to avoid getting lint on your SLR camera.

2.Start with the outside body of your camera. The nooks and crannies where dust and grime accumulate, use a air blower that has a straw tip to target those really small spaces to blow out the dirt. Then give it a good wipe with a microfiber cloth you can buy at specialty camera stores or photo events. They are relatively cheap; some are $4, while top of the line microfiber cloth can go as high as $15.

3.Unscrew the lens from the camera body. Use the air blower to blow away dust particles. Do not use compressed air as the pressure may be too much on your lens. Set the lens aside and dampen a soft microfiber cloth with lens cleaning solution. Do not put the solution on the lens directly as this may ruin your lenses.

Take the lens and wipe it with the dampened mircofiber cloth. Then use a different dry microfiber to wipe away excess fluid. Note that if you are a bit obsessive-compulsive and you may want to clean this often, stop yourself because too much lens cleaning may strip the lens off of its coating.

4.Sensor cleaning is a tad bit tricky and if you have shaky hands, you may want to leave this to professionals. To reach the sensor, lift the mirror. Do not, in any circumstances, even if you feel you are capable enough to do it. The mirror cannot even handle light air blowing.

The sensor gets dirt and dust particles whenever you do a change of lenses. To clean it, check out your digital SLR manual so you will know how to change it to sensor cleaning mode Then use the air blower to remove the dust, invert it so you have gravity working with you. After removing the unwanted debris, wipe it with a microfiber cloth or with a sensor brush which you can also buy in your local camera shop.

These are just some cleaning tips you can make use. For further maintenance, you can also put some silica gels fond in new bags or new shoes and place them in your camera bag to avoid moisture from ruining your camera. Also, place your digital SLR in a dust free bag so as to avoid further contamination.
