Succeed With E-mail Marketing

Posted by Karlh1 in Database Marketing

Direct mail has long been considered an effective marketing tool. Now, in this digital age, direct email marketing has taken over. It has many advantages including cost, flexibility and immediacy.

Unlike direct mail, email marketing campaigns are not constrained by weight limits or postal restrictions. Email marketing is instant and allows multiple links to be imbedded in the message, driving traffic to company websites.

Email marketing is also likely to be better targeted than most other forms of marketing since lists are frequently refreshed with new recipients signing on and others using the self cleaning deregistration facility.

And without print costs to contend with, envelopes to buy and address, and postage to pay for, email marketing is an economic solution that is available to companies of all sizes.

Of course, however strong the message, it must be well presented if it is to gain the attention it deserves. This is why creative email design is so important to any email marketing campaign - email design that makes the most of the flexibility of this media.

Animation, links, forms, sign-ups, downloads and response facilities are all tools in email design.

Another important element of email design is use of technical knowledge to overcome mail delivery problems and over-energetic Spam filters that can sometimes block even welcome messages.

Data protection issues are of particular importance in email marketing solutions since it is imperative that legitimate messages that have been requested should not be confused with Spam. High rejection rates, use of inappropriate email lists, or invalid email addresses can turn email marketing solutions into nightmares as service providers refuse to distribute emails from the same list.

But provided good design and mailing list maintenance practices are adhered to, email marketing solutions can be extremely effective in presenting your business proposition.

The term email production is used in advertising and marketing to refer to the art and science of building HTML emails from creative, mock-up images built by designers.

In a sense the production of an email would appear to be a simple task; starting with a picture of the advertisement to be emailed - usually in JPEG, or GIF format and then transformed into another medium i.e. HTML. The act of making this transformation would also appear to overlap with web design itself, as the advertising email is basically a small, one-page HTML application.

However, the medium over which this page is typically rendered is significantly different from the standard browser model in several important ways, each of which distinguish email production from standard webpage coding. First, the email equivalent of the cross-browser problem is much larger in scope when one considers the variety of email rendering clients in common usage.

A highly abbreviated list of the most common clients includes Outlook 2007, Outlook 2003, Windows Mail, Outlook Express, Mac Mail, Lotus Notes, Eudora, and web based clients like GMail, Hotmail, or Yahoo. This situation is complicated further by the lack of a recognized body like the W3C to institute rendering standards. Attempts at such standards do currently exist (Email Standards Project), but such efforts are hampered by competing motivations in light of the ongoing SPAM problem.

How To Manage A Small Business In The UK

Posted by James_copper in Marketing

Managing a small business in UK is not an easy job. One needs to know all the details and even consequences of every action that he or she will take. A small business in UK can make you loads of profit if you are able to manage it well. The success rates for a small business in UK are really high as it is one of the most developed places on the world and thus there is a need for everything no matter what you sell. Given below are some tips to run a small business in UK.

1. Keep business separate: Don’t mix up your daily life with your business. The accounts of your business should be maintained differently and regularly. They shouldn’t be mixed up with your daily money transactions. You can keep it all separate by opening a new bank account for your business and keeping a track of all the things in a separate diary or a book. Such separation of business related money transactions from personal ones may help you save money when you make your year end taxes returns records. This method may also help you calculate your profit or loss accurately and thus make your ideas clear about your business.

2. Receipt care: You should timely deposit all your receipts to avoid them getting either stolen or lost. All the money received should be directly deposited to the account without taking any money out for any expenses. If you wish to take out money, they should be withdrawn from the account afterwards.

3. Employee watch: Keep a watch on your employees. See to it that they work up to the mark or let them go. If you have good employees and don’t wish to loose them, give them timely treats like gifts on various occasions or dinners if you get a good profit in a month. This may encourage them to work harder and get you more profit each month. You should always keep in mind that to get something extra you should pay extra. Thus, you should increase the salaries of the employees that are extremely good at their work. You can get good information about your employees from your customers itself. Ask customers for timely feedbacks about everything.

4. Buy the best: Sometimes, to save some money, we make the really unintelligent decision of buying lower quality raw material or equipments in our offices. This may hamper the quality of the final work so never buy low quality material in your office. Even buying bad quality equipments may lead you to a big loss. Thus, you should try and buy the best available as per your needs.

5. Give the best: Give your customers the best possible service that is possible for you to give. This may help you flourish your business. This may also help you gain some more customers for yourself as mouth publicity is the best publicity that is available. Also, this may help you grow and establish on a larger scale.

Preparing For A Book Signing

Posted by Vgevge in Marketing

An author signs a copy of his book as a part of the book promotion termed as ‘book signing’. Book signing has become a major event as it gives the buyer an opportunity to meet the author. All the best selling authors understand the importance of this event and make the best of book signing.

If the book signing is such an important event in book promotion, it definitely pays to attach more creativity, thought and planning to make it a more impressive, innovative, and effective presentation. Let us see how this can be achieved.

The Perfect Setting

Typically, book signing sessions are held at bookstores. However, think about the venue that will be most suitable for the subject of the book. The very atmosphere and venue could make the audience more appreciative, and receptive to the book, making them more inclined to buy the book. The book signing of a book on nature, or gardening, if organized in an open air garden setting, is likely to receive a more fruitful response than in a formal hall or store setting.

Think about a book that is an autobiography or biography of an author or poet. How about planning the book signing session in a bookstore itself, with posters and banners of the book displayed in an attractive manner? It will definitely create more interest in the illustration of the subject itself, thus resulting in a great response in the form of more copies sold at book signing. You can think of such innovative ideas to plan the book signing session in a more appropriate setting.

The right focus

Remember, the author is the star of a book signing session. It will be the author, who will be in the public eye, who will persuade them into buying the book. Make the right impression; engage the audience in the theme with interaction and exchanges on the subject of the book, convincing them to buy a copy of the book. The author’s performance should be effective enough to generate an interest, prompting the customer to buy a copy of the book immediately, to grab the opportunity of the brief encounter with the author that a book signing event provides.

Remember, it is a part of the book promotion process

Book signing is a part of the long process of book promotion. It provides the author an opportunity to interact with potential buyers. An author must realize the importance of promoting the services of a bookstore, in order to create an affinity between the buyers and the bookstore. Like the book, if the bookstore is highlighted, more people will visit it and the bookstore staff will ensure the best service to sell the book.

The bookstore sales people interact with the customer on a daily basis, thus creating a kind of bond, and acting as a guide while selecting a book. Therefore, using a book signing session to make a bond with the bookstore people helps ensure still greater residual sales over a period of time. All these things need to be considered while participating in a book signing session.

Book signing is an event that brings together the author and the book loving and buying public. It is important, therefore, to make the most of it by taking care of all the different factors involved for the effective marketing of the book.

10 Resourceful Ways To Recycle Digital Or Small-Ticket Products

Posted by Henny in Marketing

Have your product sales slowed down?

Do you want to give a new lease of life to one of your digital or small-ticket products?

At home, I’ve earned the title of ‘Queen of the left-overs’. Did you know that left-over spaghetti sauce can be recycled? Add a bit of cumin and chilli, it becomes taco sauce; mixed with a bit of white sauce, you have a lasagna sauce; add a few vegies, wrap the lot in puff pastry and you get a pastie, etc.

Using the same principles, you can recycle a product and market it using a different mix: change your promotion, sell it elsewhere, use it to barter, bundle it with another product, etc.

Start recycling a product using one of the following strategies:

1 - Auction your product on eBay or another auction site. How much are customers prepared to pay for your product? Use this strategy to research your market and to experiment with a new selling outlet. Who knows, people in their bidding frenzy may pay more than you ever imagined!

2 - Reposition your product. Review your promotional and pricing strategies and give your product a new image. Change your sales letter (including words and graphics), add testimonials, increase or lower the price, etc. Now sell your ‘new’ product.

3 - Offer your product as a bonus with the purchase of another product. Sell the bundle as ‘this month’s special’, ‘buy one get one free’ or ‘value pack’. The bonus should boost your sales especially if you point out the dollar value of the bonus e.g. ‘valued at…’ and add a sense of urgency ‘limited time offer till (date)’.

4 - Give to get. Ask visitors on your website to complete a survey and reward their effort with a gift, your product. Provided your product is relevant to the type of information you are seeking, this should yield a list of qualified leads and supply you with new ideas to create products and boost your business.

5 - Sell your product as a promotional item. This is a strategy I have used very successfully. I’ve bundled signed copies of my book from my first printing batch into packs of ten. Businesses bought them at volume discount price and gave them as gifts to their loyal customers.

6 - Increase your database by giving away your product for free as an incentive to join your mailing list. Your offer can be advertised for free on the online free stuff sites. When visitors are picking up their freebies, capture their email addresses and you will gain a valuable mailing list. (Note: this database building strategy will only work with digital products or else you will be out of pocket if you have to pay shipping costs.)

7 - Swap your product for things you need for your own business e.g. exchange your ebook for a software or another ebook. Your savings will make up for your profit loss. At a conference, I swapped my book for books from my colleagues.

8 - Organise an online contest and offer your product as the winning prize. This a cheap price to pay for free advertising for your product through online contest directories.

9 - Donate your product for an attendance or raffle prize at non-profit associations’ events. In return, the organisation usually promotes your business by giving you an advertising space on their website or promotional flyers.

10 - Approach businesses with complementary products and find out if they would be interested in bundling their product with yours. Build on each other’s equity and share promotional costs and profits.

Left-overs are delicious. Recycle your product for a new lease of life.

The 4 Profit Factors Of Relationship Marketing

Posted by Synertegic in Marketing

Attracting new customers is critical to boosting and maintaining market share, revenue, and profits. Developing and relying on a successful relationship marketing platform has become central for businesses to develop a strong and committed customer base.

Below are a few principles to help get your started thinking in terms of how to develop an effective relationship marketing program for your company. The following principles focus on the first stage of relationship marketing, which is often called nurture, because you are nurturing and developing a relationship with a client that will potentially be a long term one.

Identify and Target Prospects Carefully

Most direct marketers will tell you that the quality of your customer list is the single most important factor in determining how effective your marketing campaign will be. In the nurturing phase of developing a relationship marketing plan, it is important to identify potential customers using a variety of personalized tactics including: geographic, demographic, attitudinal, and behavioral attributes of your potential clients. The more narrowly you define your target audience, the more specific your marketing messages can be, and the better results you will have.

Build Awareness

Even though relationship marketing relies heavily on marketing strategies that are one-to-one and generally response-focused, building the awareness of your products and services is an integral part of success in developing potential clients. Customers with a general awareness of your brand will be much more likely to initially purchase your products and to eventually provide you with information about themselves to help you facilitate a more targeted platform than if the potential customer had no awareness of your products and services.

Collect Information

Listening and gathering information needs to start at the very beginning of your relationship marketing strategy. If you’ve identified and targeted your customers carefully, you probably already know some basic information about your potential customers. But it is important to continue to amend the information you have by asking your existing clients for more specific information, such as email addresses and phone numbers, as well as their feedback on products and services that they have purchased.

Build Trust

Trust is one of two components necessary for customers to perceive you as their “trusted advisor,” which is critical maintaining a long-term relationship with your clients. Trust results from a series of small actions taken over time, and must be closely guarded because it can disappear very easily. You can demonstrate trust by demonstrating that the needs of your customers and clients come before your needs as a business owner. Nurturing a successful relationship marketing platform means demonstrating a customer-centered approach to your business. By letting the client know that you are focused on his needs as a customer, more than your own needs as a business-owner, you will nurture and build trusting relationships with your clients.

The nurturing process has only just begun - nurturing a client relationship is something you will continue to do throughout the life of your relationship with the client. These steps will help get you started in the right direction for designing a relationship marketing platform from a perspective of nurturing and developing potential relationships.
