What We Now Know About Jupiter

Posted by Elmclose99 in Science

Jupiter is so large a planet that it can be compared to a star that did not go up in flames. If it was around eighty times bigger it would have been a star and not considered a planet. It is the largest planet in the solar system and has four moons, which are almost the size of a planet, and numerous smaller moons.

It can be said to be a diminutive solar system. Jupiter is the fifth planet and by far the largest in our solar system. It can accommodate more than one thousand earth size planets if turned into a hollow. The matter contained in Jupiter is more than that of all the other planets in our solar system when put together.

Unlike Venus, Earth, Mercury, or Mars, Jupiter does not have rocky surface but it is a gigantic ball of gas. It is just impossible for a spacecraft to land on its surface and a good way to understand will be to compare it with an airplane landing or trying to land on the clouds!

Gases on Jupiter do not burn and produce light, like that of the sun, even though it is very heavy for a planet; it is not massive enough to produce thermonuclear reactions in its core that would turn it into a star. As even the smallest type of stars, brown dwarf is as mentioned earlier eighty times heavier!

History of Jupiter began almost around the same time as of earth, that is some 4,500 million years ago; but it is absolutely different from our own world. Jupiter is still enclosed by nebula from which it had originally formed.

As far as known to man Jupiter has 28 known satellites, out of which four; Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Casllisto were discovered by Galileo Galilei on January 7, 1610, through his archaic telescope. Together, these four moons today are called as the Galilean satellites. Some time back 12 more satellites have been discovered but they are still under research and have a provisional status only. They have to be declared as official satellites of Jupiter and named.

Jupiter also has a ring around it but being very faint is completely invisible from the earth. Voyagers 1 discovered this fact in 1979. It has a very dense atmosphere maybe consisting of the entire planet, can be said to be like the sun to some extent. Main composition of the atmosphere is found to be of hydrogen and helium, with traces of methane, ammonia, water vapor and other compounds also found. Hydrogen becomes metallic in this state.

It is surprisingly easy to see Jupiter with naked eyes, even if you do not know which side of the sky to see. It is the most radiant star after Venus and it is the brightest star which shines without twinkling!

Jupiter plays a major in the reading of horoscopes along with the other major planets. More and more people are now influenced by their horoscopes. In recent years people are now able to have a free daily horoscope emailed to them. These horoscopes help them make plans for the future.

How Mars Has Evolved In The Solar System

Posted by Elmclose99 in Science

Planet Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun in the solar system. It has been named after the Roman God of War. Mars seem to be a favorite planet for other countries also. In Babylonian astronomy, it is named ‘Nergal’, their deity of fire, war and destruction. In Hindu mythology, Mars is known as ‘Angala’ and Angaraka in Sanskrit. The Chinese, Japanese, Koreans and Vietnamese it was Fire Star.

When we observe Mars from our Planet Earth, it takes on a red hue; thereby it is called as Red Planet. Our ancestors attributed the reddish tinge to fire, war and destruction.

It has two known moons Phobos and Deimos. Another important characteristic of Mars is that it can be viewed from the earth through the naked eye.

Man has always been very curious on exploring other planets but he has showed special interest in Mars. Planet Mars enjoys a special status among our astrologers and geographers. Regarding technical data about Mars - it is a terrestrial planet with a thin atmosphere - little is known about the presence of any gas or life supporting systems.

After many successful manned as well as unmanned trips to the moon, the scientists are in possession of virtually everything you need to know. They have equated the geographical features they have seen on Mars with similar features in Mars and Earth. For example, the impact craters show a very close similarity to the impact craters of Moon.

The data available so far indicate that Mars do have similar geographical features to that of valleys, deserts, polar ice caps and volcanoes of the earth. Mars has the special distinction of ‘Olympus Mons’, the highest known in the Solar System and ‘Valles Marineris’ the largest canyon. Another piece of information the scientists could gather was of a similarity between seasonal cycles and rotational period of Earth and Mars.

Due to the identical axial tilt of both Earth and Mars, there’s a close similarity in the seasons and other geological features of these two planets. Mars experiences dust storms that cover the entire planet.

After various visits by unmanned spacecrafts of Mariner series, Mariner 4 indicated the possibility of water on Mars. But this fact has yet to be authenticated. Mars has now a host of spacecrafts orbiting Mars as well as land based Mars Exploration Rovers who are endeavoring hard to seek out indications of water and any form of life on Mars.

Although the data collected so far by the scientists has been very voluminous, they are unable to establish beyond doubt whether Mars had any form of life at any time or is it barren without life land mass from inception. However, the search for more data on Mars will continue.

The data collected so far on Mars has proved to be a boon to our astrologers. By studying the various photographs and other data of Mars sent in by the exploring spacecrafts, they claim that this gives them a better insight of our Solar System.

The explorations to Mars and other planets will certainly continue as man’s thirst for knowledge cannot be quenched. Man will be able to land on Mars and other planets and will be able to remove all the myths surrounding these planets one day.

The Meaning Of The Star Signs In Astrology

Posted by Elmclose99 in Science

Hey, what’s your sign? Pretty lame pick up line, huh? Back in the 70’s when disco enthusiasts used that line in bars; they were referring to their compatibility based on their star sign. Because of the huge importance of the sun, coupled with its convenience, the position of the sun within constellations is the most influential and accepted component of the astrological chart, or any other astrological system for that matter.

The astrological year commences in spring, with the first sign being Aries. Each sign, sometimes referred to as the Zodiac signs or Houses, is associated with one of the four elements. A planet, and set of personalities and individual traits that are able to broadly encompass the people born while the Sun is positioned within that particular constellation.

Below is a brief description of each of the star sings, its element, its personalities, and its planet. Aries is a Fire sign. People whose star sign is Aires are the action over words people. They don’t just talk the talk, they walk the walk. Aries is ruled by Mars. The next star sign is Taurus. Taurus is an Earth sign, whose predominant traits are stubbornness, security in a relationship. Taurus is ruled by the planet Venus.

We then come to Gemini. Gemini is an air sign ad represents the sons of Zeus, Castor and Polydeuces. Gemeni’s exhibit logic, inquisitiveness, though they can sometimes be superficial. Gemini is ruled by the planet Mercury. After Gemini is Cancer. Cancer is a Water sign, ruled by the Moon. Cancers can be erratic, and though they don’t show it, they are sensitive and strongly affected by love and life.

Leo is a Fire sign, ruled by the Sun. Leo the lion is a proud and powerful sign. Leos are generous, proud, though sometimes arrogant. Virgo is an Earth sign, ruled by Mercury. Virgos are proud and a good friend. Practical and efficient, they can sometimes be over critical. Libra is an Air sign, ruled by Venus. Symbolic of balance, Libras like to have intimate relationships and are experts in soothing violent energies.

Scorpio is ruled by Pluto. Murky and mysterious, Scorpios are wise on a much higher level than other signs. Sagittarius the Archer was sage and king of the centaurs, a race of half horse and half man. Sagittarius is a fire sign, ruled by Jupiter. Sagittarius’s are intelligent, yet somewhat careless. Capricorn is an Earth sign, ruled by the planet Saturn. Capricorns may have a strong desire for wealth and material possessions, though they lack emotionally.

Aquarius, unknown to most and commonly misconceived, is an Air sign, not a water sign. Aquarius is ruled by the planet Uranus. Aquarius’s are humanitarians, unconventional, and sometimes detached. Pisces the Fish are ruled by Neptune. Obviously, Pisces are a water sign. They are imaginative, sensitive, and impractical. Pisces will have no problem putting their plans in to motion. Pisces is a bipolar sign, being pulled in opposite directions, though held together by a cord on their tales.

Astrology has grown gretaly in recent years with many people now wanting to receive their horoscopes on a daily basis. They can now receive free daily horoscopes that are emailed to them daily. These daily horoscopes can then be used to help guide people through the day ahead.

The History Of Horoscopes And Astrology

Posted by Elmclose99 in Science

For most of us, our only knowledge of horoscopes comes from what we read in the newspaper or read in a magazine while were in line at the supermarket. These horoscopes are full of vague predictions and advice that can be interpreted any number of ways, thus earning them a reputation of worthlessness and the skepticism of experts.

However, a true horoscope, not one that is found in the newspaper or online, is a work of precision, as technical as schematics, and as revealing as an X-ray. As much a masterpiece of art as it is that of science, a completely, professionally crafted horoscope is a magnificent combination of mathematical, astronomical and temporal information which allows you to gain an understanding of your true personality.

Though astrology has never met the standards of modern day science, nor have its results been reproducible, nearly every culture throughout time has relied on the advice and knowledge of astrologers and people who study the stars. Throughout history, cultures have carefully built their societies around the positions of the Sun, Moon, stars, and the planets. Just take a look at the Great Pyramids of Egypt, the temples built by the Mayans and the Aztecs, as well as the Cradle of Civilization in the Middle East.

For many, horoscopes are only a superstition, with relationships between your personality and time of birth nothing but a mere coincidence, if not down right ridiculous. However, astrology has been practiced for thousands of years from cultures as diverse as the Ancient Aztecs to China. However, today, the most popular and common system of astrology is that of the Greeks, who used shapes in the stars to represent figures from ancient myths and legends.

The two most important aspects of your horoscope are the Sun Sign and Rising Sun. Most likely you are familiar with your Sun Sign which is determined by the position of the sun with a specific constellation. Synonymous with the Zodiac signs, the Sun signs are as follows: Aries (The Ram), Taurus (The Bull), Gemini (The Twins), Cancer (The Crab), Leo (The Lion), Virgo (The Virgin), Libra (The Scale), Scorpio (The Scorpion), Sagittarius (The Centaur), Capricorn (The Sea-goat), Aquarius (The Pitcher), Pisces (The Fish). These sun sings usually fall on the months of the Zodiac calendar, which is not equivalent to the regular calendar months.

Most experts opposed to the science behind astrology believe that it is highly unlikely that all people of the same sun sign can share the same personality traits. For example people who are born with the sun sign Aires are assertive, impulsive, and sometimes selfish, where as people who are born with the sun sign Cancer are tenacious, sensitive, and sometimes clinging.

So, does this mean that people with the sun sign Cancer can’t be impulsive? However, believers in the astrology would argue that this arises from people’s perception of the daily horoscopes that they see in the newspaper. Many of the variables are considered in a complete horoscope. Many people now now have free daily horoscopes emailed to them daily.

Andrew Gibson beleives in his Free Daily Horoscopes and has it emailed to him daily. He bases his major decision making around his horoscope and by getting his personal horoscope emailed to him daily helps.

Where Did Life Come From?

Posted by Genesisman in Science

This might be the biggest question of all.

Darwinists claim that life arose after a BIG unexplained explosion led to the formation of a big rock. Then oceans formed on the rock and from these primordial oceans life somehow arose.

As a result of this naturalistic philosophy being imposed upon scientific researchers today, many roadblocks to real science have been erected.

For example, real science reveals no known way that nature could allow complex, living systems to develop by random chance from non-living matter. Yet, this is exactly what is required in order for life to have evolved on its own.

Due to this dilemma, most Darwinian-influenced biologists try to separate the origin of life, often referred to as chemical evolution, from discussions of biology. Their religious adherence to naturalistic Darwinism leaves them no other choice.

Yes, I used the word religious. Why? Because Darwinists have to take a leap of faith to believe their claims, which are in direct conflict with established scientific facts, principles and mathematical probability.

Experiments such as the one conducted by Miller-Urey in the 1950’s have supposedly been able to produce some of the non-living chemical compounds found in living matter. However, the fact is that humans have come nowhere near to creating life in the laboratory.

The Miller-Urey experiment required massive amounts of intelligent input from the researchers. Then, in their closely-monitored laboratory, replicating conditions NOT even found in nature, they were able to produce a few of the 20 non-living amino acids that are found in living things.

However, they had to isolate the amino acids so that the conditions which made them would not quickly destroy them.

An even more significant problem for starting life in either a lab or in a natural setting is that of the 20 types of amino acids found in living matter, they can all form in either right- or left-handed forms.

Mathematically speaking, any such acids forming in such experiments or in a natural setting would end up with roughly a 50-50 mixture of both right- and left-handed varieties. Yet to form the proteins found in living systems, the mixture of amino acids must be left-handed only, with all right-handed nucleotide sugars (with only a few rare exceptions).

There is no known natural process that can produce only left-handed amino acids.

The truth is that the Miller-Urey and other such experiments did not come anywhere close to producing life in the lab from non-living matter. The simple fact is that they did not even come up with any of the non-living building blocks of life.

Today, some evolutionary zealots, recognizing the impossibility that life could have spontaneously generated on its own, are suggesting that somehow life started elsewhere in the universe and was dropped off on earth by aliens, meteors or by some other unknown process.

This simply shifts the evolutionary problem to where it cannot be tested and to where it will not pose as big an embarrassment to secular scientists.

Overview And Benefits Of Alternative Energy

Posted by Redgsr in Science

The world’s reliance on oil is staggering, and it seems that new predictions for when we will run out of petroleum are popping up every day. World governments are moving to start drilling in new places, in a desperate attempt to secure more black gold. Oil is used for a variety of products, including fuel, which is the number one commodity that people associate oil with.

If we are to survive as a species, it is integral that we embrace the number of alternative fuels that are sitting before us. Even if one alone is not enough to wean us off oil, it is surely possible that together, we can replace oil once and for all, at least in terms of fuel.

There are innumerable benefits to embracing alternative fuels, and very few negatives. In fact, the only arguably bad thing about alternative fuels is that they ultimately decrease the profits of oil companies, although most people do not care about that. Petroleum based fuels are known to release greenhouse gases and harmful pollutants in to the air. Over time, greenhouse gases have been shown to accelerate global warming, and the dirtier the air is, the unhealthier we are. By taking advantage of alternative fuels, we can reverse these downward trends, stop global warming, and make air completely safe to breathe again.

Proponents of oil say that our economy would be extremely damaged by our disposal of traditional fossil fuels. It seems, however, that the onset of alternative fuels will actually be beneficial to our economy. Companies that research and provide alternative energy are popping up at an increasing rate, creating jobs and stimulating the economy. If alternative fuels were supported more heavily, additional companies could enter the market and continue to innovate.

Solar power is the process of converting the sun’s rays in to energy. The vast majority of sunlight which strikes the Earth is left unabsorbed, so we might as well try to take as much as we can get. Solar energy is produced through the application of solar cells, and several solar cells put together form solar panels. The solar cells convert sunlight in to direct current energy through the photoelectric effect. When light hits the surface of the cell, electrons are released, and they are harnessed in to usable electricity. Solar engineers are currently trying to develop more efficient and effective solar cells, so that we may one day be able to rely on them for the majority of our appliances.

Wind energy uses the power of the wind to generate electricity. Wind is converted in to electricity through the utilization of wind turbines, which have taken on a thin, three bladed shape in modern times. Currently, wind power supplies one percent of the world’s electricity needs, although with coming advancements in wind technology and the expansion of the industry, that number could rise substantially in the next few years.

Hydroelectric power is the most used form of alternative energy, supplying nineteen percent of the world’s electricity. It is generated by the potential energy of falling water, which powers a water turbine and generator. Large dams have been constructed solely for the purpose of creating this kind of energy, and due to the continuous flow of water, hydroelectricity has proven to be quite effective. Like other renewable energy sources, there remains a lot of untapped potential in this field.

Stop right now, don’t pay for your electricity any longer! Did you know that solar power can save you tons of cash starting right now?
