The Virtuous Hydrogen Water Fuel

Posted by Paully1111 in Electronics

Today, the world is seeing an explosion in the need for fossil fuels. Some people blame this on the United States and Western Europe, as their industries and automobiles consume vast quantities of oil and gas. Well, that is only partially true. Also today, India and China have booming economies and growing populations.

Where once a car and other creature comforts were only for the rich, both nations also have a burgeoning middle class, and these people want a better life! So, that thus means a need for more fuel. As a result, the price of gas can only go up. Now, granted, it may go through phases where it fluctuates a bit, but the overall trend is constantly up. In the United States, it now stands at over four dollars a gallon, and the economic impact is being felt across the nation. Less driving for summer vacations, higher fuel bills, higher costs of just about everything that is transported by truck and air, and rising airline ticket prices. This has also led to more demand for travel by rail. As Amtrak needs more trains and cars, this will necessitate an investment in infrastructure across the country.

Then, there is also the issue of Global Warming. The use of fossil fuels has resulted in large amounts of greenhouse gases being released into the atmosphere. We are already seeing the results of this with longer hotter summers, more intense hurricanes, shorter winters, and more severe droughts. So, anything we can do to reduce emissions of these gases is a good thing.

Next, there is the issue of terrorism. It is no secret that there are people in this world mainly in the Middle East who are bent on committing terrible acts of terror around the world. The fact that we buy oil from them means that we are providing them with the funds they need to do just that. On the other hand, if we can wean ourselves from oil, and find a viable alternative, we can financial starve them of the funds them need.

Then too is the question of which alternative fuel to use. Some advocate corn or sugar ethanol, as they are renewable bio-fuels. Then there is wind and wave, solar and nuclear, and even geothermal. Yet, when looking for a fuel for vehicles, hydrogen is truly the best way to go. The problem with most bio-fuels is that the food taken away for fuel production could be better used for animal feed or human consumption. Recent corn ethanol production has caused price increases for food and feed. When you consider that fuel prices are also going up, this will only add to the world food problem.

With hydrogen fuel, it has the virtue of not taking resources away from other areas. Also, the only pollution created by such vehicles is pure water! The technology is there; it just needs to be implemented. Also, the fuel components hydrogen and oxygen are as abundant as just about anything on Earth. Now, some people worry about the idea of driving around with pure oxygen and hydrogen in their car. Well, consider this: you drive around with a tank full of gasoline! That is a highly explosive liquid, and has led to countless car fires over the years. Today, with the technology available, a hydrogen car is extremely safe. When you put that together with the savings on fuel bills, the improvements to the environment, and the economic and social benefits to our society as a whole; you’ll see that hydrogen technology is the way to go.

Did you know that
you can convert your car to a water-burning car? You can run your car on water, supplemental to gasoline, to
increase your car’s fuel efficiency and reduce your fuel costs significantl
Works on gas or diesel powered cars, vans, trucks, and SUVs.

A Girls Guide To Patch Panels

Posted by AnnaStenning in Electronics

One of the annoying things about breaking up with your boyfriend of many years is the process of moving on and being able to do things yourself again. There are certain things in my experience that I could have done without, but many things that I could have really used to help me on my daily life. Such is the sad notion of splitting with someone who was a computer genius and would always take care of my home technology system; however, this is the only thing I will miss of him as I do wish I had taken more notice of what he used to do.

Nevertheless, moving on is exciting and I soon learnt how to use a computer properly. It turned out that it was not as bad as one would think it to be. I decided that it was time that I begin learning about all things technological, considering I would be attached to my computer for a long time. I got a little carried away and came across terms like server racks, connectors, switches and patch panels. I never knew what any of these terms meant and decided to put my brain into use by researching this topic of networking.

Not everybody are technologically astute, even though I have been using my home computer for many years, I still need help in setting up the network connection between multiple computers. However, patch panels alone are an important and vital piece of equipment in the world of electrical and communication systems. You may or may not have heard of these, but I will try to give you a clear picture of what it would look to the nonprofessional.

Imagine a grainy film of the 1940’s, possibly during the Second World War and seeing the telephone switchboards. Back then, telephone calls were transferred from switching one wire from one connector and connecting it onto another socket. This method was known as ‘patching through’, which is putting the call through to the other person. These were the earliest forms of patch panels used for communication connections and have since developed into becoming a useful data-transferring device.

At this point one may be thinking how any of this is relevant to them. The point is that patch panels are good for connecting computers together for something called a LAN (Local Area Network). These are great for having people all networked together to transfer data, share files and best of all play games against each other (a great way of getting over the old ex!). These are important for connecting the computer to a network and onto the internet; hence it is good to be knowledgeable.

Note that this is a manual process of interconnecting cables, so you as the user would need to plug and unplug the cables keeping you in control of all of the connections. Of course, we no longer see these cables for connecting phone calls, but new alternatives and devices are still readily used today for communication networking. These are even used in music recording studios, broadcasting studios, telephone connections, computers, audio and video production studios, and other communication studios.

These are extremely cost effective and cheaper than most switching equipments. These also have a good power failing protector, which is handy for keeping this running smoothly and without losing any valuable information. They have also made available wireless patch panels, which works by switching connections simply by using a switch!

Maybe the best way to show you are doing well in getting over your ex, is by showing off your knowledge on how to network computers together and talk about patch panels. It works like a charm!

Anna Stenning is now very knowledgeable on how to use patch panels for her computer system and finds this is a great conversation starter.

Cell Phone Radiation Linked To Autism

Posted by Paully1111 in Cell Phones

For the last few decades, the use of cell phones has been on the rise across the country and around the world. With the advent of micro technology and satellites, mobile phones have gotten smaller and smaller. In fact, some have reached the point where big people actually have trouble dialing a phone number because their fingers are too big to touch one key at a time! For that matter, some models of phones are so tiny that big headed people have trouble hearing from the earpiece and talking into the mouthpiece at the same time.

With those new phones have come other aspects of the technology. The biggest and most obvious the one just about everyone sees every day is the cell phone towers. Between the towers and the phones themselves, there is a lot of radiation flipping about through the atmosphere. Well, the atmosphere is one thing, but our minds and bodies that is quite another; and the minds and bodies of our children is quite another thing altogether!

Possibly, you may have heard about the increase in cases of autism in recent years. Now, based on input from doctors and teachers who deal with these cases, part of the increase is due to the fact that years ago children with autism were misdiagnosed. After all, autism covers a very broad range of maladies. Some children sort of shut down, they are non-responsive and non-verbal. Others are very intelligent, but socially awkward; they are known as high functioning autistic. The point being, today autism encompasses a wide range of developmental problems for children.

Yet, even allowing for the incorrect diagnoses of the past, it is still a fact that about one child out of a hundred has some form of autism. That is a very large increase over past cases. The question is: what is the cause? Here again, researchers say that part of the contributing factor is genetics; some children are predisposed to being autistic. Yet, they are also equally certain that there is some kind of environmental factor that sets them off. Debate has raged for years as to what the factor (or factors) could be. Some have said it is the mercury used in inoculations; some say it is our processed foods.

Based on studies of the human body, it is a fact that a child’s skull is thinner than an adult’s. So, what does this mean in terms of cell phone use? A child using or exposed to a cell phone will have the phones radiation penetrate into their skull much deeper than into an adults skull. This high-frequency electromagnetic field can cause increases in blood pressure, affect biological functions within the brain, and negatively impact the brains bioelectric activity. When you consider that a childs brain is growing and developing, any outside influence that damages their neurons as they are forming networks could certainly lead to some form of neural damage.

There may not yet be a direct connection between cell phones and autism. But, when you consider the chance you are taking with your childs health and future well-being, it is definitely in your best interest to minimize their exposure to cell phone radiation. It is a sad fact that there is no cure for autism, and some forms of it are quite debilitating. So, anything you can do to reduce the chances of your child ending up in poor health, it’ss worth doing, isn’t it?

Asset Tracking; Perfect Even For Small Businesses

Posted by Prettyone in Technology

Keeping track off, managing and maintaining any particular asset or vehicle in a fleet is an element of success that is hard to ignore. The tracking of assets is of vital importance, larger companies with huge asset numbers realise this importance and understandably employ software for the purpose.

If a company fails to employ an asset tracking system the financial losses can be vast, in the modern fleet management world, performing the task manually is simply not an option. One of the biggest savings when an asset tracking system is implemented is time; especially the time spent looking for assets. As a result, by saving this time you can increase efficiency and hence profitability.

Asset tracking is used for all manner of uses and in a variety of different environments. The term asset can refer to a person, an air conditioning unit or in the medical sphere a dialysis machine; fundamentally it is any physical option in a business. Some systems use barcodes to track assets, by giving every asset a particular barcode it is possible to get the location of any device by scanning it on the entry and exit to every room in a premises. While this is a commonly used method, not all asset tracking systems utilise barcodes, there are many different ways of scanning and locating equipment.

But if you are a manager why would you need an asset tracking system? Put simply this type of software will save your company time and money. It can help do away with the out of date spreadsheets that were the old way to track assets. Today software and systems have become affordable even for small companies helping them to increase efficiency and make more money. This opening up of the market means that no matter what the size of the business, the benefits of asset tracking software is hard to dispute.

The advanced nature of modern asset tracking systems can even take into account the depreciation in value of assets. This can be especially useful when it comes to the task of tax returns and audits. Unlike old systems, the modern allowance for depreciation means that managers can assess the value of their company at any point, making entire company valuations easier.

All businesses must take full inventories of their equipment at regular intervals throughout the year. It is at this point that asset tracking software can be especially useful. By having a full and complete inventory at the touch of a button time will be saved whenever the process is required. Instead of having a member of staff devoting a whole day or more to the task, the job can be done in under an hour; meaning that the worker can devote their time to business operations, subsequently making more money.

By improving your organisational performance you will ultimately make your business more efficient. Efficiency is key in any business if that business is to be profitable. With a variety of technologies being utilised by tracking systems it is possible to find the right system for your needs. By keeping a check of any asset that is worth a considerable amount of money you not only increase your efficiency but also increase the security of your operations.

Running a business is about having information at your fingertips that will help you run your operations, this type of software will assist you in this.

Technology expert Thomas Pretty looks into ways in which asset tracking software and systems can help improve business efficiency.

Saving Money With VoIP Phones

Posted by AnnaStenning in Technology

One method of trying to save on your mobile phone or landline bills is to use an alternative method to communicate with people. The internet is a great way of contacting people quickly, provided you have installed the right programs and you use broadband internet, and the other party you are trying to contact have exactly the same setup as you on their computer. VoIP phones (Voce over Internet Protocol) have been around for many years, providing a very cheap alternative to using normal telephones.

Using VoIP phones can be free if you are calling from PC to PC; as long as both parties have added you on their profile account. It is as simple as downloading it onto your PC, setting up an account and adding people onto your profile - much like using MSN messenger. Internet bandwidths have improved massively, making the connection between the calls quicker and the sound quality much clearer - this is why it is now comparable to normal telephoning methods.

In the past when more people had narrow band (dial-up internet connection) internet connectivity there were more problems in sound quality, with the connection timing out and making it near impossible to call people via the internet. Sending messages across using messenger programs were much slower and often not received by the other party. With broadband connection, you are instantly connected to the internet as soon as you turn your PC or laptop on.

VoIP phones help making calls across the globe much cheaper too. Normal telephony services charge a great deal of money to make a call outside of the local area. This becomes even more expensive when using a mobile phone, making it difficult for people to make regular calls to family or friends abroad, without having to worry about breaking the bank! VoIP phones are much more reliable, affordable and normally have good sound quality.

The VoIP software service providers are available to download from the internet, with the biggest programs being Skype, Google Talk and Babble. These are relatively new on many desktop computers; however, they are far from being a new piece of technology and have been in development since 1973 since the very early stages of the internet. Transmitting conversations over the internet have been available for end-users since the early 1980s.

In 1993, a shrink wrapped software by VoiceTec was released with features such as voice mail and caller ID, however, this did not take off as well as only VoiceTec users were able to contact other VoiceTec users. It would not be until 1997 that a softswitch was developed, opening more gateways between telephones, making it possible to call up other landline phones from the PC.

Calling up across the globe using VoIP phones is an extremely cheap way of sending information across, without having to rack up the price of your bill at the end of the month. It is important that the user has a broadband connection; otherwise, their internet telephony will not provide good sound quality.

Anna Stenning is an expert on VoIP phones having installed a program on her computer to make cheap calls abroad.

Cheap Unlocked Mobile Phones For The Needy

Posted by Mobilephonegeek in Cell Phones

Have you ever wondered how you could buy a cheap unlocked mobile phone? Maybe you have even wondered what an unlocked mobile phone even is. Well I would like to provide a little insight for you so that you may better understand what they are and how they can benefit people. Many months ago after the first Iphone was released there was a huge deal made out of the first person that was able to unlock the phone. The reason this was such a big deal is because the Iphone was restricted to use on just the AT&T network. People that had service plans on other network were out of luck when it came to being able to use this phone.

With a cheap unlocked mobile phone you are able to use the phone on any network you choose. Most phones are built for certain networks and have proprietary software that forces them to only function on the network they were built for. As you can see this would cause problems for a lot of people. Thus the unlocked mobile phone market was born. People buy these things like crazy because of the major benefits that they offer. One of the major benefits is that fact that you can buy one of these phones and use it on your network after your contract has expired. This is awesome because it allows people to not have to resign a contract with their service provider. Not many people like being tied down to a contract with a cancellation fee so this is the perfect work around for these types of situations. It can sometimes be difficult to find cheap unlocked mobile phones, but they are out there. Many unlocked phones are more expensive because the people selling them had to alter the phone to make it unlocked. This can sometimes be done with different types of software, but in a lot of cases the phone has to actually be opened up and the wiring inside is soldered differently.

You will also want to buy your cheap unlocked mobile phone from a source that you trust or at least know that you can get your money back. The reason for this is that you don’t want to get scammed by someone that is selling an unlocked phone and then never sends you the phone after you have paid them. Always stay away from Western Union as it is never a good idea to pay for things. Paypal is one of the best options or services like it because it offers protection to buyers against fraudulent transactions. You can always follow my rule of thumb about most things in life. If it is too good to be true it probably is. So if you are in the market for a cheap unlocked mobile phone, just make sure you do your homework first and then find exactly what you are after. We know you won’t regret your decision. If you are still too scared you can always buy a new phone.
