Smart Phones: Sales And Growth Show No Sign Of Stopping

Posted by Matt2257 in Cell Phones

Do you remember when there was a time that it was a very futuristic thought to be able to walk around and speak on a telephone that was not connected to the wall? I clearly remember watching Star Trek episodes and seem to use those flip communicators and I thought that was pretty cool. I would have never guessed that in my lifetime I see a device that resembled that gadget that was on the TV show.

The idea that the cell phone is now called a smart phone really a good description of what they’ve become. Today, more of us want our mobile phones to be fully loaded with every imaginable feature: Internet accessibility, MP3 capabilities, GPS navigation, email devices. 2008 is the year the smart phone goes mainstream.

The big race for smart phones really started in the year 2008. Prior to 2008, there was a lot of discussion in a lot of prototypes, but it was the iPhone that really unleash the possibilities with a smart phone.. it was the iPhone that raised the bar and all other manufacturers are chasing to follow. The original iPhone sold 5 million units despite being available only in the United States and select parts of Europe. So the release of the new 3G iPhone from Apple it is no surprise that this is a really big push for the smart phone.

When you look at the numbers in smart phones sales, the mobile phone industry released its latest statistics on the smartphones and their impact on the market. According to Gartner, Inc, smartphone sales have increased worldwide by nearly 30% just since 2007. In a slowing economy, the mere fact that any given industry has a 30% increase in sales when the general market is in decline is proof that the smart phone is poised to take off.

In North America, however, the rise is even more prominent. During the same period, sales for smartphones increased by 106%. That means their sales more than doubled in comparison to the first quarter sales of 2007.

The iPhone isn’t the only smartphone on the market. That being said, it’s success has proven the viability of the item in the marketplace, and competitors are following suit. While smartphones, like those created by Blackberry, were once considered only desirable by on-the-go business professionals, every day consumers are gravitating to the full functionality, and the portability.

And although the prices for smart phones are relatively high when you sitter the cost compared to a regular cell phone, the demands is going to increase the effective efficiency in production, and naturally that should bring down the costs of smart phones. By bringing down the cost of the smart phone more people will be little for them and more smart phones will sell.

With the popularity of the iPhone, it’s no surprise that other mobile phone companies are going to be hitting the market soon with their own smartphones. Samsung, for example, is releasing the Tocco. It has a touchscreen and allows for the dropping and dragging of widgets for the user’s convenience. Nokia is also coming up to bat with its own version of this smart phone. They are currently working on a touchscreen model prototype currently referred to as Tube. Blackberry is also releasing its own model known as the BlackBerry Thunder. This should be available in Fall 2008.

And don’t forget, Google is also on the horizon with their version of the phone. Not only are they working on an interesting open source platform, but the features that they are looking for in their phone should be exciting to see.

All of these model should do well, but the question is which one’s the best? I’m thinking that people are going to side with the Apple. Either way, smart phones are a trend that is exploding in the technology sector and we are just looking at the infancy of the product.

Plasma TV Technology - A Means Of Bringing Life To Images

Posted by WestWing888 in Electronics

Thanks to the latest plasma TV technology, the prices of flat screen television have dropped in a dramatic fashion to say the least. Also thanks to guidelines issued by the government, broadcast programming will soon be in digital format and with the current mixture of TV technologies providing plasma TV technology, the are now ready for the final conversion from analog to digital.

Ever since the year 1964, the utilization of plasma monitors has enabled the initial dots of monochrome to be viewed on a monitor. In 1999, the first full colored plasma monitor was debuted and thanks to plasma TV technology the images being presented on the screens have just become sharper and more lifelike as the years progress onwards.

In today’s plasma TV technology you get the ability to view widescreen video on 4:3 ratio monitors, through the process of clipping the images. In this way, the viewer doesn’t see the total frame.

In television sets that were older, the picture ratio was 4:3; in contrast to what is shown in movie theaters of 13:9 and the whole image is able to be viewed on the screen. With the latest plasma TV technology, the images are broadcast or sent out in 13:9 ratio and the entire image is able to be presented and viewed on screen.

Nevertheless, a signal that is received in the 4:3 aspect ratio, is still capable of being viewed through the technology that is being used by today’s newer television sets. There are some of the older TV’s that would stretch the image at the top which would end up creating a distortion as it attempts to fill the whole screen while today’s newer monitors will utilize a correcting algorithm to calculate the biggest size of the image and then do a scaling of the overall image to then fit it to the available screen.

Constant Improvement Gives Brighter Viewing Entertainment

Through the use of plasma TV technology the images on screen are much sharper, clearer as well as more colorful than ever before. Nevertheless, regardless of the amount of quality of the plasma TV as well as the price that you paid for it, if the signal that is input is in the format of analog or only capable of being shown in enhanced video, there will be no discernable difference in the quality of the picture.

Even in the case of today’s satellite TV services, which is broadcasting all of the signals through high definition, if the program that is originating it is sent to the satellite services is not in the format of high definition, the signal that is eventually received in the home will have an odd resemblance to the older images that were in analog.

In spite of all of the high technology advances in plasma TV technology, in addition to the falling prices, numerous individuals are hesitant to welcome the high-end types of units because of the availability or lack thereof of high definition signals in some locations of the country.

One of the minor drawbacks with plasma TV technology is the sizes of the monitors that are available. The majority of manufacturers only make them to about the 42 inch screen range, which leaves the smaller size units to the LCD industry in the flat panel market.

Looking For A Cheap IPod Online?

Posted by KristiAmbrose in Electronics

I was definitely not one of those people that were out of the loop with the iPod craze, in fact I believe I was the ring leader! For those that live under a rock, an iPod is a product made by Apple that plays MP3s among other media depending on which iPod you have! These cool little gadgets come in different sizes as well as colors. And if you’re a trendy tech junkie then you probably have one of these, and if you don’t then you definitely need one! The very first one I bought was the iPod shuffle, it’s really small and really simple. But I just needed something to listen to my music on. The next one I got was the iPod touch. Consider the “craze” people went through for the shuffle and multiply that time 500 and you have got yourself an image of what people acted like when the iPod touch was coming out! Here’s a few stats on the different iPod’s available to you right now

iPod Shuffle -
Five colors to choose from - silver, green, blue, pink, orange, red, purple
1 GB model & 2 GB model
up to 500 songs
Weighs 15 grams
Second generation

iPod Nano -
Five colors to choose from - pink, silver, turquoise, product red, mint green, black
4 GB & 8 GB model
4 GB holds up to 1,000 songs, 3,500 photos or 4 hours of video
Watch TV shows, movies, video podcasts and more
Third generation features 2 inch screen

iPod Classic -
Two colors to choose from - Silver & Black (older versions have other colors)
160 GB model
Holds up to 40,000 songs or up to 200 hours of video

iPod Touch -
Black
8 GB model
Holds up to 1,750 songs, 10,000 photos, or 10 hours of video
Cool touch screen
Watch movies and TV shows, listen to music, iTunes movie rentals, Surf the web, send email and more

I love my iPod touch, it’s the best thing since white bread. As said above on the shuffle and nano, there are several different “generations” with some of these products. Lets just call it updating and leave it at that! There are also products in the Apple line up such as the Apple iPhone which is like having a TV, ipod, DVD player, phone, computer anything else you can think of, all wrapped up in one sweet little package and the Mac book air (among other macs)! The original prices for these products range from $49 for the shuffle on up to $2,799 for the Mac Pro. Fortunately for places like eBay you can buy a brand new shuffle for $18 or less and the Mac Pro for $700 or less. Sounds good, don’t it!?!

You can also check out other sites like BestBuy or Circuit City but don’t expect to beat the prices on eBay. In fact, if you want anything close to the prices eBay has the only other place you could go would be Amazon. With both of these sites you can pretty much decide if you want an Apple product, new, used or refurbished. Have fun picking the best Apple product for you!

You can also check out these non Apple products as listed below. All of these products are out, so there is no waiting around!

Philips HDD100 Digital Jukebox (15GB)
Rio Karma (20GB)
iRiver HP-100 MP3 Jukebox (10GB)
Toshiba Gigabeat (20GB)
Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen NX (20GB)

How To Build A HHO Generator And Run Your Car On Water

Posted by Alanlargo in Technology

HHO gas will accomplish for you what you thought was always impossible, and that is the possibility of running your car on water.

In fact, this is entirely possible on your own if you put forth a little bit of effort and make your own water powered generator. Lets see how this runs and test the waters of the water engine a little bit.

Of course, fuel prices have been skyrocketing seem to continue going up steadily. The nations gasoline prices do not appear to be dropping at all anytime soon. It is time to act now and not wait any longer for something to happen that may never happen at all!

Thus, the way we do things now are going to have to change for just about everyone across the nation and even around the world. We will have little or no choice but to adapt to these changing times.

Water run engines are the beginning of this change and the perfect possible change that will allow you to literally run your car on water. The science behind all of this is not that difficult to envisage.

What happens in these cases is that the car battery provides a spark which electrolyzes the water in the generator. A gas compound, called HHO, is then produced.

This gas has a unique quality of being as stable as water and along with all of this it also preserves the energy to a hydrogen molecule. The gas thus burns to provide enough energy to the car.

Of course, this process of running on your car on water greatly reduces your fuel expenditure! The average fuel savings on a water driven car is almost 60% which is the equivalent figure by which mileage of the car goes up. But wait, it gets better!

This also helps reduce pollution or the emission of pollutants from your car. The cars longevity is greater. The IRS refunds that you gather as a result of using pollution controlling mechanism on your car should also add to your smiles to your face.

Now, how build such an engine? Look around on the Internet for available guides which should instruct you in great detail how to assemble a water run engine. There are pictorial instructions and training videos as well as detailed step-by-step guidelines available online.

These guides are the best help you can find when you are trying to build your own water powered engine. Virtually all guidebooks are written and composed keeping complete green horns in mind. So, you should not find them difficult to follow in any case.

Your local auto parts shop will make you pay around $500 or so for the water powered engine and $500 extra for the installment. You can pick up a detailed guidebook online on how to do it yourself for just about $50.

The equipment you need to buy to make this kind of an engine, according to the instructions in the manual, will cost around an extra $50. You can do it yourself for one-fifth of the cost of an auto shop. The choice really is a no-brainer!

If you plan to sell your car for some reason, the HHO generator should be taken out as it is very beneficial and can be easily transferred right over to use on your new car. It is very simple to uninstall. The warranty is also valid for a long time, so you are good to go!

So if you can read the water powered engine guidebook, use a few basic tools and follow some instructions, you too can have your very own fuel saving, environmentally friendly vehicle.

It will assuredly keep your cars engine running smooth and clean for many years to come. So as you can plainly see, you have nothing to lose by running your car on water!

Discover The Benefits Of Outdoor Speakers

Posted by MaxGwiji in Technology

Outdoor speakers are those speakers that are specially designed to work and be used outdoors. They are made in such a way that they generate audible sound while in the outdoor setting. They may be placed on decks, mounted on plants, hanged on posts or just put on the ground. Outdoor speakers are very convenient when you want to laze in the garden, listen to music by the pool side or when having a garden party. They are of great use especially for outdoor tasks, such as when teaching dancing or aerobics outside.

Outdoor speakers reduce the need to crank up the volume of sound systems that are indoors to be audible to you when you are outdoors, as it may be deafening to those inside the house.

They are usually connected to the main system through wires that are well hidden on the spaces beneath the roof, creatively concealed on the sides of the walls or buried underground. When installing wires of the speakers, avoid passing them through windows and doors, as this will damage the wire. It may even cause it to short circuit the system in case the insulation is scraped off and the wires get into contact with the each other. When placing the wire for the speakers, try always to avoid using a lot of wire. Try to let the wire come out of the house to the place nearest to the speaker. Make sure the wire is properly insulated to avoid it being chewed by insects, rodents and other animals.

When planning to purchase outdoor speakers, choose ones that are weatherproof. This means that they can withstand any type of weather. They are of great expediency because you do not have to uninstall them every time it rains or snows.

It would also be great if you could find wireless outdoor speakers, as they would make it much easier during installation. It would avoid the necessity of using a lot of wiring and having to drill holes through walls to pass the wires through. The garden speaker ranges are the most popular sound systems now, as they easily match the outside environment due to their color and shape. They are also waterproof and quite affordable. They may take different forms. There are those that look like mushrooms, rocks, and frogs among other shapes. When shopping for outdoor speakers always compare prices and quality from different stores, to ensure you get the best value for your money.

If there is limited space in your backyard you can find very small models that can fit well under the space beneath the roof. You shouldn’t let the size worry you as they generate very high, eminent sound. It is recommended that you install a switchbox for the speaker system that will allow you to route the audio to many output channels. This also enables you to switch between indoor and outdoor speakers, so that you do not have both on when not necessary.

Are you search for a bargain on your next wireless speakers outdoor system? The author has a wide range of wireless speakers available on his website from the likes of RCA, Acoustic Research, JBL and others.

Running Your Automobile On Water: Conversion Vs. Pure?

Posted by Alanlargo in Technology

There are two separate types of hydrogen powered cars. The first is the conversion type. This is where a gas engine is converted through the installation of a hydrogen generator to allow for water to be used to replace some of the fuel for the vehicle.

It does not replace all of the fuel and so the cost effectiveness and the environmental impact is not as great as if you were looking at an entirely running a car on water option such as the fully hydrogen-based engine.

This does not mean that pure hydrogen engines are better than conversion types. Hydrogen powered cars are still relatively new and as a result, relatively expensive. This makes them out of reach for a vast majority of the population.

As a result, the conversion option usually attracts more attention despite that fact that it costs a bit more in regards to using gas and produces emissions which are nothing more than harmless water vapor.

With a conversion all you need to do is to place the hydrogen generator onto the engine and set it up according to the instructions to ensure that there is a proper mix in the engine, and then you are all set.

It costs only a few hundred dollars at the most, and oftentimes pays for itself within the first couple of weeks of using it. The downsides are that you are using gas even with the hydrogen, so you do still need to fill up though not as often.

In fact, you may get an additional half to full tank out of each time you fill up! You also will still be putting greenhouse gases into the environment, though these are significantly reduced when using a conversion run car on water option.

There are a number advantages and disadvantages when it comes to using conversion and pure hydrogen generators on vehicles. It is important to decide which you prefer and consider the impact and costs involved in each of your choices.

This is important because these are some of the deciding factors when it comes to determining which is better a pure hydrogen based system or a converted system.

If you are looking at pure systems, they run completely on water and they emit nothing but water vapor into the environment. This makes them cheap when it comes to fuel and makes them highly environmentally friendly. They are however, very expensive and highly new to the market.

When it comes to converted systems, you can either build your own generator or purchase a conversion kit. Either way, you will be spending only a few hundred dollars at the most for supplies or kit options for a single generator.

You are still going to be using gas rather than water, but you will be spending less and the overall cost is significantly less than purchasing a new vehicle.

You can pay for the conversion within the space of just a few weeks. You are extending the life of your tank of gas while reducing your emissions all the while.
