The Wrong Way To Write Articles

Posted by Comlev in Article Writing

The wisest tips and suggestions on how you can improve your writing abilities for the web has been constantly discussed and explained in most articles. But avoiding the common pitfalls in writing web articles is the cleverest.

If after you submitted your articles to a handful of publishers and still did not generate the traffic you need, then maybe its time to check if you are committing the common pitfalls.

Here is a list of the most common overlooked pitfalls you and other writers commit.

1. Remember you are writing articles, content-rich, informative and useful articles, NOT SOLO ADS. Writing an obvious advert is a major turn-off for most publishers. How will you know if you are writing an advert? If your article lacks useful information, sounds like a sales pitch when you read them aloud and you inserted your link outside of the resource box, midway through the article that means your article is a blatant ADVERT. Do not even imagine your article being published to any of the publication and newsletter.

2. If website links outside of the resource boxes are a general-no-no to publishers, what more other links that of your affiliates. Be sure that your article is free of any website links, except for minor instances that it is needed to give additional information, but the rest should weblink free article.

3. Incorrect spellings and other grammatical errors are eye sores to publishers and readers. Do not let this happen, as you would be negatively branded and would be considered as not someone to be trusted. If spelling checks are needed by all means do it.

4. Resource boxes are spaces for basic information about you, your business and contact details including your website link. Do not put over-hyped promotional words, sentences on your resource box. This may become a turning point for publishers who decided not to take your article instead but well in fact impressed by the first and middle parts of your article.

If these have been your ways before, better stop, think, reflect and act on it so you can
make use better of your writing ability and knowledge.

Now, how to act on it? Aside from avoiding the common pitfalls discussed above, some suggestions for each aspect of your article should be taken into your consideration when starting to write.

Tips On How To Keep Your Best Pen Pal

Posted by Comlev in Writing

1. You have to be honest to your pen pal. You do not want a friend who does not tell the truth all the time. You must not make lies to your letters and be true to yourself on any information you want your pen pal to know. Trusting one another can strengthen the very foundation of your relationship.

2. You have to build a good reputation to your pen pal. Write good traits about yourself, this might help you to build a nice impression of yourself and make your pen pal picture you as a good person.

3. You have to be consistent in writing your pen pal. Always include your pen pal in on your list on what not to forget for this day or week. If you failed to send letters in the past weeks that means you are an inconsistent friend. You should always keep in mind that your friend misses you a lot and waits for your letters. Make a list of the special occasions and events that you have written one another.

4. You have to be reliable all the time. Make sure to do it and not to fail to send him messages when your friend tells you that you should write to him at this time or in a specific date. If there are instances where a more important concern took your time away in writing him, make sure to make an explanation on why you were not able to reply in his letters.

5. You have to be trustworthy enough as a pen pal especially if your pen pal tells you confidential issues or secrets. You have to keep it on yourself and not share it with others, since your pen pal have entrusted you to share his problems or concerns on different matters. You must not ignore it if he had thoughts of killing himself or if he wants to commit suicide or issues of sexual abuse. In this issue, you can get help or you can refer it to those who are concerned to your friend.

6. You have to share with your friend your knowledge and skills. Many people find pen pals because they want to expand their knowledge in the things that surrounds them. In return, they also want to share their knowledge and talents as well. Tell your pen pal about the beautiful place where you live and share stories about your friends. You can invite your pen pal to attend an occasion or a special event. You may assure him that he will enjoy and have the experience that he will never forget. However, do not expect that your friend will accept your invitation. It does not matter if your pen pal declines your invitation. Maybe in the near future your friend might just come and join you.

If you are good in making poems and telling stories, share the special talent that you have. Sharing it with your pen pal might have an interest to him. Your friend might even share his talents to you. If you have passions for a particular thing or cause, share it. Your pen pal might find it interesting and if your friend can benefit from it, he may surprise you that he is also considering your passions.

7. You have to use right grammar and correct spelling when writing to your pen pal. Your letters must be clear and easy to understand. Make the message straight to what you are pointing out and use Basic English in your letters. Look for correct spellings in the dictionary if you are not sure with the words you are using.

8. You must learn how to forgive and forget. There are times in letters, you tend to hurt or offend the feeling of your friend and sometimes you do not know she felt bad about what you wrote. Explain to your friend that you did not intentionally want to hurt his feelings. Maybe your friend will understand after all you have a certain thing that bonds you and have that special understanding to one another because you are friends. Say and accept apologies. Be humble and say sorry. It takes a special friendship to pen pals who know how to forgive and forget.

How To Get More People To Notice Your Advertising

Posted by Mick_Reade in Copywriting

Headlines are one of your biggest weapons for getting more people to notice your advertising, for whatever medium you choose to use. Now you are using headlines, aren’t you? And NOT your logo - that’s not a headline. Only one person cares about your logo, and that’s you.

Whereas a headline is something every single one of your prospects will be glued to like a kid on a cartoon. Whatever you’re writing, you’ve GOTTA HAVE A HEADLINE. But here’s the deal, there a are good headlines and bad headlines, so I’m going to give you an absolute killer template headline that you should use THIS WEEK in your business. Remember, a headline’s goal is to do one thing only - stop your prospects in their tracks and lock them onto your ad, and some people say you only have 1.5 seconds to catch their attention, so you need to make it good!

Master copywriter David Ogilvy has said… “On average, five times as many people read the headline as read the body copy. When you have written your headline, you have spent 80 cents out of your dollar.” So if you’re using your own logo at the top of your ad, you could improve your response immediately, just by sticking ANY kind of headline up instead!

So would you like to know one of the great secrets for writing headlines that literally slap your prospect in the face and demand they open their wallet? Good, well here it is for you… model headlines that already work!! Don’t try and reinvent the wheel, the best way to come up with fantastic headlines is to take what already works, and adapt it to your own business. Isn’t that simple?

Here’s an absolute knock-’em-dead blockbuster template for a headline:

IMPORTANT NEWS FOR HOMEOWNERS:
Don’t pay another phone bill until you read this…

IMPORTANT NEWS FOR WOMEN:
Don’t buy any makeup products until you read this…

IMPORTANT NEWS FOR BUSINESS OWNERS:
Don’t run another ad until you read this…

Do you see how powerful this is? And I’ve shown you 3 different versions, so all you have to do is apply it to your own business and you could easily double or even triple your responses! How about these headlines:

Do You Make These Mistakes With Your Money?

Do You Make These Mistakes Playing Golf?

Do You Make These Mistakes In Bed?

Do You Make These Mistakes Baking Cakes?

I could go on, but I’m sure you get the idea. This particular headline works on your curiosity. It gets the reader to say to themself, “maybe I’d better read on and find out.” The main thing you really want your headline to do is to get your reader to be interested enough to see what else you’ve got to say. MAKE AN IMPACT! Remember the old saying ‘first impressions last’? Well that saying still applies today.

And now that we are bombarded with up to 5,000 advertising messages each day, it is more important than ever to stand out and be noticed! If you have a headline that literally screams out, READ ME, then you’ll be more than half way to having an effective advertising campaign that starts making profits for your business! Remember the 80 cents out of each advertising dollar? Well now you know how to focus your efforts to have the maximum impact!

Anniversary Gift - Romance Is The Key

Posted by Allenjessop in Poetry

When searching for an anniversary gift the main thing to remember is to be romantic and sincere, especially if the gift is for your partner or loved one.

Sometimes a material anniversary gift really does not express how deeply you feel, and you may consider sending something more heartfelt and personal such as a poem or a card that contains anniversary verses.

Writing your own poem may not be your forte but do not despair, there are many services available to help.

If you do decide to send an anniversary gift that is a poem it is important to include information that is personal to the receiver

Here’s a good example of a creative anniversary gift that was
written especially for a couple’s first wedding anniversary:-

Wiggy and Wigster
We had known each other for 13 years,
that was even before we’d started to date,
but despite the best efforts of our mutual friends,
they hadn’t accounted for those winds of fate.

You came to my job one hot July 30th,
and you struck up a conversation with me,
that day I happened to be very tanned,
you thought my ripped stomach was a place to be.

You asked what I did to stay in shape,
and asked if sometime we could go together,
I was only 3 minutes away from “more than life itself,
each and every day of my life, forever and ever”.

Exactly one month from that first meeting day,
I looked you up in an e-mail address book,
I must admit I’d been driving by your house,
just in the hope I’d get a wave or a look.

Because I’d already turned down one invitation,
and wasn’t going to make that same mistake again,
so I asked to take you up on that bike ride,
you were so thrilled, you just said: “When?”

We went out on our first date two days later,
for the record, it was dinner at The Offshore,
then we took a romantic stroll, hand in hand,
and I knew my life had changed (for evermore).

After two weeks of dating,
I asked when would all the sweetness end,
and you said, “Never, why does it have to?”,
We both knew then, we’d found a lifelong friend.

It was obvious to our friends and family too,
and I had waited for you to say “I love you” for so long,
so happily, I moved in just a few months later,
and ever since, we’ve never put one foot wrong.

When we first met I found you disliked cats,
and now Ziggy “your son” gets more kisses than me,
but let me tell you, Wiggy, you’re wonderful,
and you’ve made Wigster’s World a great place to be.

Wearing two crowns can be sometimes tiring,
so together, we play, we laugh, love, walk and pray,
hand in hand, we do everything as a couple,
as we did on August 2nd, our “Beautiful” wedding day.

I now know what a husband’s love is truly worth,
and we know that there’s no “I” in team,
I know you took your time in arriving,
but you were worth waiting for, my dream.

Our relationship is the best I’ve ever had,
you truly are my soul-mate and the love of my life,
I just wanted to say, “I’m proud of you”,
and very proud to be known as your wife.

Now there’s Wiggy, Wigster, Ziggy and Pinky,
the newest member to the Italiano clan,
Pinky, is Daddy’s favorite baby girl,
but don’t worry, you’re still my favorite man.

And at the risk of our friends and family gagging,
and this is really what these words are for
Happy First Anniversary, Tommy, my Wiggy,
and you’ve already guessed it, Wigster loves you more.

Teaching Kids To Write Requires Patience

Posted by Vgevge in Writing

A child is taught three parts of writing simultaneously. They are accurate letter construction, identical letter size, and the same tilt throughout the writing. They should be taught to concentrate on one objective only at the first attempt. He or she, should learn the building of letters first, but one by one. Once they have mastered a letter, then only they should be taught the next one, because otherwise he may get confused and jumble them up.

First of all they should start with vertical and horizontal lines and circular shapes. Once they learn how to draw lines then the straight line shapes like square, triangle and rectangle should be taught. Then they should be taught some easy letters and then short words. We should not be concerned about the size of the letter first. We should allow them to write the actual letter providing some samples for tracing, ignoring the size and the shape of that letter.

Once you notice an increase in the accuracy in writing the letters, you can then teach kids to write with proper strategy that is, they should now follow the instructions for controlling the size of the letters and maintaining its homogeneity. For this kids require a handwriting paper which gives a proper strategy and uniformity to a child to write properly. They should start their writing on the dotted lines as given in the writing book. It consists of four lines: dark lines on top and bottom and two dotted lines in the center. When the child starts writing on the center lines, gradually he learns to write uniformly. The center lines guide the child in writing the letters in proper size and uniformly. For the rapid development within a child in writing we should first write some letters or words and allow the child to follow them and copy. Regular practice makes him perfect gradually in writing and maintaining the uniformity.

Here, regular practice does not mean creating their own letters or words rather the child should copy them to increase the uniformity in writing. For this the child has to practice every day and constantly. But this does not mean that he or she will engage in long practices rather they should opt for short practices, that is, two short writings in a day with a long gap so that the child does not get irritated while writing. Again for proper writing a child should sit comfortably with his arms resting parallel to the level of writing and the feet supporting the floor rather hanging. If the posture of writing is not proper then his body may start aching and thus, he will feel tired.

Thus, we see that for proper upgradation of writing within a child, practice becomes the foremost and essential task. But we should judge whether the child is focusing on the size and uniformity of the letters. It can be checked by making him practice in the handwriting notebooks. The third part lies in the style of writing. This can be taught through cursive writing. But attention should be taken while making them write. A child should be praised for their writing.
